The Ding Dong Lounge Band Competition 2023 : Grand Final
Ding Dong Lounge proudly presents the 2023 Band Competition, live upstairs at Dead Witch.
The Ideas:
A two piece noise blues band from Auckland, With Max Leask on guitar/vocals and Josiah Weston on drums. We’re groovy, aggressive and want to bring excitement and loud energy.
Capricore:
Capricore are a four piece rock band based in Auckland, New Zealand. Mentored by musical icon Pete Warren of DD Smash fame, their sound takes influence from classic kiwi rock, filtering it through a modern alternative lens. Like hearing Jordan Luck or Dave Dobyn enter a world of post-punk, dream-rock, and grunge.
Guitarist and songwriter Aidan Ripley takes his lyrical influences from acclaimed songwriters such as Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, and Jeff Buckley. Bringing life in Auckland city to a surreal and esoteric landscape with songs such as “Dreamer,” “Don’t Shank Me,” “Yeah, Nah, Yeah” and “JAFA.” This is met with the punk based drumming of Caleb Gray, grooving bass of Jerrick Wilcox, and atmospheric keys of James Zambucka.
Blindr:
Blindr is a dynamic four-piece pop-punk band hailing from the vibrant music scene of Auckland. Born from humble student roots in Dunedin, Blindr has evolved into a musical powerhouse, drawing inspiration from a diverse spectrum of artists and genres to deliver a cutting-edge pop-punk experience that seamlessly marries the fresh and the nostalgic.
THE BOONDOCKS
The Boondocks are a fresh two-piece hard rock act from the Awhitu Peninsula, south of Auckland. Starting in mid 2022, the two have gone into the deep end of the live music scene, having done as many as 40 gigs since forming. They have ticked a lot off the bucket list in their short time, but have so much more they want to accomplish!
